Austin Calhoun

Austin Calhoun, PhD, (she/her/hers) joined Saint Paul College as the Vice President of Advancement and Communications in December 2021. Dr. Calhoun is a dynamic leader with nearly two decades of experience in higher education administration and most recently served for five years as the Chief of Staff in the Office of Medical Education at the University of Minnesota. She holds a PhD in kinesiology, with an emphasis in sport sociology, from the University of Minnesota, as well as a master of science in education from the University of Miami (FL). Dr. Calhoun has presented regionally, nationally, and internationally on the topics of digital media, sport, and gender equity. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communications from Washington and Lee University’s accredited journalism program. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communications from Washington and Lee University. Her technical skills, academic training, and leadership experiences are grounded in current and previous positions where she has served as a senior leader, project manager, instructional technologist, front-end developer, content strategist, research assistant, and communications director. Outside of work, Dr. Calhoun is an exercise enthusiast, an amateur crossword puzzle solver, and strives to be a superhero to her three school-aged children.
